All About Eyebrow Waxing

If you’re used to using tweezers for your brow needs, it may be time to consider putting down those plucking devices and invest in eyebrow waxing. Between the unnecessary discomfort, inconsistent results and the extra time wasted in the morning, we’ve laid out an inclusive list on why waxing eyebrows is the best option for your hair removal needs!

What is eyebrow waxing?

Similar to any other forms of waxing, eyebrow waxing uses a warm wax to remove unwanted body hair from around the brow area. Depending on your esthetician, either soft wax or hard wax can be used.

What are the benefits of eyebrow waxing?

Plucking and tweezing gets tiresome and causes patchy regrowth, especially when done on a daily basis – that’s where waxing comes in. One of the primary benefits of waxing is that your beautiful results last longer. Since the hair is being removed directly from the root of the hair follicle, you won't have to worry about your next cleanup for at least a month!

Are there any potential side effects or risks of eyebrow waxing?

The only real side effect that clients new to waxing may need to keep in mind is mild irritation and temporary redness due to sensitive skin. Let your esthetician know about any medications and any sensitizing products in your skincare routine ahead of time!

Is there anyone who cannot receive eyebrow waxing?

Individuals who are on medications such as Accutane should refrain from participating in waxing services for at least 6 months following the last dosage. Additionally, anyone who is using products that contain retinol should avoid waxing until you’ve discussed your routine with a professional esthetician. Typically, you’ll need to avoid retinol for at least a week leading up to your appointment.

What to expect from the process of eyebrow waxing

If you’ve experienced any other waxing services, you’ll already have a general idea of the process for  when it comes to waxing your eyebrows. Just know that it will be much more of a relaxing experience than your last  brazilian wax! If you have yet to experience your first waxing appointment, we’ve outlined a few helpful tips for each part of the waxing process that will help you understand how to prepare and what to expect.

How to prepare for an eyebrow waxing appointment

In preparing for your appointment, it’s important to avoid using any of your stronger acne or anti-aging products at least one week before coming in. Also, if you show up with a full face of makeup, we will unfortunately have to remove it from the area that we will be waxing. If time permits, we will always be happy to throw a little concealer on afterwards in an effort to mask any redness and blend it in with your foundation.

During your waxing session

Here at MR. Brows, we pride ourselves in taking your goals into consideration, but also give our expert recommendations based on your natural brow shape and facial structure. After assessing your skin and natural brows, a warm wax will be applied and then left to set for a few seconds before being swiftly but intentionally removed. Your brow specialist will keep an eye on your skin and even apply soothing skin care agents to the brow area once the hair has been removed.

The best steps for eyebrow waxing aftercare

Before you leave your appointment, be sure to discuss proper aftercare with your brow artist. It’s more than likely they will go over what products to avoid and that direct sun exposure, as well as any touching of the brow area should be avoided for at least the first 24 hours following your wax. The best part about having a professional is that we can provide customized care recommendations to ensure you get the most out of your brows.

Other frequently asked questions about eyebrow waxing

Other than the basics we’ve just covered, there are a few other things that are going to be good to know prior to arriving at your eyebrow appointment. We’ve covered some of our most frequently asked questions below!

How long does it take to wax eyebrows?

Though we can wax and create a beautiful set of brows within at least 15 minutes, we give 30 minutes to the appointment time. At MR. Brows, it’s important for us that you come in, relax and never feel rushed out. By giving 30 minutes for your appointment, it also allows a little extra time to add in a tint to your service should you decide to treat yourself!

How often should you get your eyebrows waxed?

As you commit to regular waxes, the longer you will be able to go between appointments. That being said, most of our regulars start off by booking their eyebrow waxes 4 to 6 weeks apart from each other.
