What Is Eyebrow Tinting?

If you’re one of the many of us who weren’t born with perfect brows, eyebrow tinting may be for you.

Unlike more invasive procedures like microblading, this procedure is quick, painless, and, best of all, affordable!

Today, we’re looking at this popular service and answering your questions about achieving the look you’ve dreamed of.

What you should know about the process of eyebrow tinting

There are several different ways to achieve fuller brows. More permanent approaches like microblading and powder brow tattoos are costly and sometimes painful. These aren’t for everyone; they only work on specific skin types and can have unwanted complications.

When you want to define your brows but don’t want to spend a lot, this is a great alternative.

During eyebrow tinting, your esthetician applies a semi-permanent dye to your hair. Even if your brows are on the thinner side, most people tend to still have plenty of vellus/thin hairs that can take color. After this process is finished, you’ll have visibly , fuller looking brows that last!

What Is Eyebrow Tinting?

The next morning you’ll notice that you either won't feel the need to fill in your brows, OR the time spent filling them in will be cut in half!

What are the benefits of eyebrow tinting?

Eyebrow tinting is a quick and affordable way to fill in sparse brows. Your brow technician will match your eyebrow color for a natural look. And, as we mentioned, it’s non-invasive and doesn’t have a recovery period.

Usually, the process takes around 20 minutes and can be an easy add on to your brow wax service.  Truthfully it has to be one of the easiest ways to enhance your brows without having to commit to products that will eat up your time in the morning!

How long does an eyebrow tint last?

Because this is a semi-permanent process, the results from a tint  unfortunately won't  last forever.  That being said, one session can last up to about 4 weeks.  The best way to maintain the results is to actively avoid  oil-based products, exfoliating the area, and perhaps taking a break from the pool .

Are there any downsides to eyebrow tinting?

If you happen to have a lot of sensitivities to products, it’s always recommended to get a patch test to see if you’ll be reactive to the ingredients of the tint that is used.  If the area tested has any redness or irritation, tinting may not be for you.

Though staining your skin within the shape of the brow can be a good thing, you definitely want to make sure you see a professional for your tint so that you do not run the risk of having skin outside of the brow shape stained.

Eyebrow tinting vs microblading results

Microblading and tinting are two very different services.

In microblading, your artist uses a tool with multiple tiny needles to manually apply color into your skin in order to create the illusion of hairstrokes.   This process can make your brows look fuller and more dense.

Eyebrow tinting  enhances the hair you’ve already got. During this process, some of the skin is stained within the eyebrow shape which also creates the temporary illusion of a more dense brow. In addition to being a service that doesn't require a huge commitment, it is also a much faster procedure that’s pain-free and easy to maintain if you decide that it’s something you can't live without!

Is the dye used in brow tinting safe to use?

Most people don’t experience a reaction to the dyes used in brow tinting. Because it’s used so close to the eyes, it’s not the same type you’d use on other hair. The skin in this area is also more sensitive, so if you’ve never had brow tinting done, or are worried about your skin, your brow specialist does a patch test.

How much does eyebrow tinting cost?

The cost varies depending on which market you’re in. Areas with a higher cost of living will have higher prices associated with cosmetic procedures. At MR. Brows, our eyebrow tint without any additional add-ons is $30.

What to expect from your eyebrow tinting appointment

We know you’re excited about tinting your brows, but before you head in, here’s what to expect!

How to prepare for your eyebrow tinting session

Before you arrive for your session, remove any makeup you’ve applied to the area. Remove any oily residue so the treatment has the best chance of success..

Your stylist will take time before they begin to go through these things with you. But, the more precise you can be about your aesthetic goals, the more we can guarantee that you will love the results.

How to take care of your newly tinted brows

We always suggest actively avoiding getting your brows wet for the 24 hours following your service.  If they get wet when you shower, it’s not the end of the world, just don’t scrub on them.  Also, in an effort to avoid stripping the color away; we also recommend that you do not use any of your favorite oil-based products directly on your brows.

There’s something else to consider if you’re a regular swimmer. Chlorine shortens the lifespan of the dye, so you may need to schedule touch-ups.

How often should you get your brows tinted?

We can tint your brows as often as you’d like, but encourage just coming in at least once a month whenever it’s time for a wax and just do both at the same time!
